4/16 Favorites of the Week: Stargirls, body makeup, vintage Cavalli, tart cherry juice and more…
Everything I’m loving this week.

Faking a sun soaked life of leisure with a rust colored blush stick. I am loving Merit’s Flush Balm in Persimmon, the shade perfectly replicates the tone my olive skin takes on after an afternoon in the sun. I apply to my cheeks, nose bridge, forehead and chin.
Listening to Stargirl a podcast hosted by Emma Baker, she defines a ‘Stargirl’ - a term she coined- as peerless, controversial and enviable. The host does a deep dive into a new ‘Stargirl’ every few weeks; episodes on Lena Dunham, Audrey Gelman, Jia Tolentino, Tinx and more. She has a very unique and researched perspective while still being kooky, cheeky and light. I love when she describes a girl’s overall “vibe” using her matrix of dead vs. ripe, natural vs. artifice, etc; really funny and on the nose. I feel like her brain works similarly to mine so it’s fun to throw as a distraction from my own thoughts.
Obsessively searching on the Gem App, a reader suggested vintage search engine.
Re-upping on my favorites from the Sephora sale: Make Up For Ever Lip Liner in Wherever Walnut, Make Up For Ever Aqua Resist Smoky Eyeshadow Stick in Cinder, Pat McGrath Labs PermaGel Eyeliner Pencil in Xtreme Black and Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer. I’m a fan of a dark dramatic eye and light and natural everywhere else.
I’m giving my nails a break and going natural- shocking I know, but I was craving it! Just a gel mani with OPI Big Apple Red polish. My natural nails are super strong and growing like crazy because I’ve been making and drinking nettle leaf infusions (please have patience for the video, the woman is a little kooky but she knows what shes talking about) a few times a week. A ritual I got into in my early 20s when I was detoxing from BC. As an added benefit, I discovered the infusions are more efficient than a biotin supplement. The nettle leaf made my hair and nails long and luscious, so I return to it periodically.
Broke out my French pharmacy fave NUXE Shimmering Dry Oil this week. Feeling sexy and glowy!
The Manduka yoga mat that I stole from my sister and roll out at every Yoga Sculpt class.
Perfume of the moment, sleeping elixir, vintage cavalli class find via Depop, bag obsession Vintage Roberto Cavalli. Also some great finds under the Class by Cavalli line.
An unexpected jump to 80 degrees in Chicago this week means I was very unprepared for sandals. I bought the Aveeno Cica Repairing Foot Mask on a whim at Target and it surprisingly softened up my feet. I like Baby Foot Peel as well, but this one is better in a pinch and without the commitment of peeling.
Flamingo Estate Roma Tomato Candle - smells like my family’s vegetable garden!
My sleeping elixir which consists of water, 1/4 cup of tart cherry juice, a lemon squeeze and a capsule of 5HTP. The cherry juice stimulates natural melatonin release and I describe 5HTP as Xanax-lite. I sleep like a baby.
I’ve been reaching for my bottle of Narciso Rodriguez For Her exclusively as of late. It’s a total throwback to 2008 in the best way possible and the scent develops gorgeously on sun drenched skin. She will probably be my scent of choice for spring and summer!
Oooh I’m interested in hearing more about your birth control detox. I’m going through that rn
